That's how group gifting works, and the strange thing is nobody minds. But every one of those people had something they'd have said out loud if they'd been standing in front of you.
Wishd is where that goes. Each gift stays wrapped until you open it, one at a time: a face, a voice, a few words meant only for you. By the end you've been told, by everyone, why you matter.
Only if you're organising one. To send cash, a reel or a message you just use the organiser's link, and recipients don't sign up either.
Yes. A reel or a message is a gift in itself, and plenty of Wishds are made entirely of them.
Creating a Wishd, and sending a reel or message, is free. On a cash gift, one Wishd fee of 4.4% plus 20p is added on top at checkout, so the full amount you chose reaches the recipient: a £20.00 gift costs £21.08. There's no charge for moving money to a bank, holding it or leaving it unclaimed, and no tip screen.
It depends how far away the event is.
If the event is within 30 days, you pay at checkout, there and then.
If it's more than 30 days away, your card is saved with Stripe and charged 30 days before the event, for exactly the total you were shown. We email you when you set it up, and again three days before the charge.
Stripe, not us. Contributions sit in Wishd's account at Stripe, an FCA-authorised electronic money institution, until the recipient claims them. Stripe is one of the world's largest payment processors, and Wishd never sees or stores your card details.
Everything unlocks at once. The recipient opens their reveal link and goes through the gifts one at a time: reels, messages and cash. At the end they see the total gift amount and claim it. We email them a short code to confirm it's really them, then they add their bank details on a secure Stripe page and the money goes to their account.
If the organiser chose to buy the gift themselves, the reels and messages reveal as normal, and there's nothing for the recipient to claim.
That's still a Wishd. One gift, reel or message unlocks on the day just the same.
No. From one person to an entire office, every gift, reel and message lands in the same place and unlocks together on the day.
Your message and reel go to the recipient and to whoever set up the Wishd. Everyone else who contributes sees only who's taken part, never what they sent.
Report it. Anyone who can see a reel or message can report it. Reporting hides it instantly for everyone and sends it to us to review.
Before the event, the organiser can also delete content directly, and on a child's Wishd the guardian previews and removes anything first.
Wishd was built by two parents, one of them a teacher. Safeguarding shaped how a child's Wishd works, not the other way round.
Yes, and you choose when you set the gift up. Either the recipient sees who gave what, or individual amounts stay hidden and they see only the total. They get all the reels and messages either way.
Yes. If you'd rather buy something they can physically unwrap, you can have the total gift amount — the fund — paid out to you from 30 days before the event, once everyone's cards have been charged. The reels and messages still reveal on the day as normal.
You can edit your reel or message any time before the event date — unless the organiser has already taken the fund to buy a physical gift, which closes everything for editing.
The organiser can move the event date. In the final 30 days it can only move earlier, because everyone's card has already been charged.
If that doesn't work, the organiser can cancel the Wishd. Everyone is refunded, less payment processing costs already incurred.
We remind them at 10, 21 and 27 days after the event. If it's never claimed, everything goes back to the original cards after 30 days: the gift in full, plus the Wishd fee less payment processing costs already incurred.
If a claim was started but not finished, we hold it a little longer before refunding, so a claim in progress isn't cut off.
Reels, messages and thank-you videos are kept for 30 days after the event date, then permanently deleted. We email the recipient three days before, so they can save anything they want to keep.
